BLM Seeks Public Input on Gateway West Geotechnical Environmental Assessment

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) seeks public input on the Environmental Assessment for the Gateway West Geotechnical Drilling Project (WYW174598- 01) EA No. WY-060-EA09-88.

The environmental assessment documents the BLM's analysis of the environmental impacts associated with an application submitted by Idaho Power Company and Rocky Mountain Power for a temporary right of way grant to conduct geotechnical surveys related to the proposed Gateway West Transmission Line Project. Geotechnical drilling would occur on federal, state and private lands with approval from the owner. Approval of this application in no way determines the location of the Gateway West Transmission Line Project nor does it imply approval of the application for the transmission line construction and operation. Public comments on the environmental assessment will be accepted until July 22, 2009.

The environmental assessment is available for public review online at: www.wy.blm.gov/nepa/cfodocs/gateway_west/documents.html.

Questions and comments should be submitted:

The Gateway West Transmission Line Project is a joint proposal by Idaho Power and Rocky Mountain Power to construct and operate 230 and 500 kilovolt transmission lines from across southern Wyoming and southern Idaho.
